![]() Mondstadt has Stormterror and Andrius, Liyue has Childe and Azhdaha, while Inazuma has La Signora and Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto. Judging from the content released in all previous regions, each region will be inhabited by two weekly bosses. Of course, we can only speculate until HoYoverse adds the area into the game. Perhaps it was that disaster that reached Apep's court, forcing him into making a 'final resort' that resulted in the area we see today? We know of one disaster that happened in the deserts of Sumeru was the fall of King Deshret's kingdom after he unleashed forbidden knowledge into the world. Perhaps that disaster forced Apep to 'resort' to something in an attempt to stop it, which seems to have failed judging by the ruins you can find nearby. Perhaps some sort of disaster happened there that turned the Wenut and flying serpents from noble and sentient beings into what they are now. However, they have now lost their 'noble wit and vigor' and are little more than just ordinary beasts of the desert. The description for Apep's Resort said the Wenut and winged serpents 'served as officials' in the court of Apep, denoting some form of sentience. Perhaps the usage of the word 'Resort' here does not refer to a place for recreation, but rather the act of turning to a particular strategy or course of action during a difficult situation, as in the phrase 'the last resort'. The name Apep itself lends credence to such speculations, as it originates from Egyptian mythology as the name of the serpent god of chaos, and is known as the greatest enemy of Ra, the Egyptian god of the sun.īut why is the place called Apep's Resort? It certainly does not look like a good place for a vacation, seeing as it's located underneath scorching sands with ruins scattered about and where monsters roam. The description also notes that both the Wenut and the winged serpents "have lost their noble wit and vigor".Īpep being described as a friend of King Deshret may also point towards it being a god, or at least a being of godlike power. You can reach it by going to the northernmost Teleport Waypoint and heading to the cavern in the northeast.Īccording to the description of the viewpoint you can unlock in the area, Apep's Resort is a “court in a great cavern beneath the dunes” that was built by a friend of King Deshret, aptly named Apep, where Wenut and winged serpents served as its officials. With the main story for Sumeru soon coming to a close and Fontaine looming on the horizon, will Apep's Resort be part of the last map update to Sumeru before we move on to a new region? What is up with Apep's Resort?Īpep's Resort is located in the northernmost part of the Desert of Hadramaveth. However, the lore behind this location is shrouded in much mystery. We’ve previously talked about Dornman Port, its mentions in-game, and our speculations regarding its location, but the oft-mentioned Apep’s Resort, located in Sumeru, has its entrance quite visible to players. The map in Genshin Impact may seem huge now, but there are many locations throughout the four nations released so far that developer HoYoverse has hinted at but are yet to be accessible to us players. ![]() ![]() Will this be a new area releasing in a forthcoming Genshin Impact update? Ryan’s death killed his demons, but it unleashed others on his entire family and close friends. ![]() Ryan’s demons had won.įor anyone who may know someone or even are contemplating suicide themselves, this is not the answer. The police and paramedics arrived and began caring for Ryan. Ally ran, screaming to a nearby apartment to have them call 911. She opened her eyes and Ryan was laying on the ground with a gunshot wound through his temple. She then heard a loud snap, which she described as the sound made when someone is snapping the heels of their shoes together in a military formation. Being in shock of what was going on in front of her Ally closed her eyes, not knowing whether he was going to shoot her, himself or both of them. She told him they had Alana to think about. Ally pulled away from him and began crying and begging him not to do anything. He then took her hand and placed it on his hip. Ryan told her he had all the help he needed right there. Once, home they both went for a walk, during which they discussed the incident and Ally begged him to get help for the PTSD. Worried that she was hurt or possibly leaving him over what happened, Ryan left work and went home to check on Ally. Ally had fallen asleep and did not hear her phone ringing. Around midnight on August 6th, he tried calling Ally while on a break. Ryan went to work that evening with a very heavy heart, constantly texting and calling to repeatedly apologize. She managed to break away and eventually wake Ryan. While in a deep sleep, he began kicking Ally in the ribs and put his hands around her throat and squeezed. During the early hours of that morning, Ryan had his most severe nightmare. Since they had been together, they kept the same sleep schedule, since Ryan worked nights, so they could spend more time together. On August 5, 2015, Ryan and Ally were asleep in bed. Although he was coaxed by many to seek help he always refused, wanting to fight his battles on his own, on his own terms. The PTSD, adjustment to married life, financial setbacks and other stressors began to escalate. However, the nightmares continued to increase and become more severe. After the wedding, everyone was hopeful that the demons that haunted Ryan would be dismissed by the love and happiness he found. On December 13, 2014, Ryan and Ally exchanged vows in a beautiful Texas Hill Country wedding. Ryan took on the role of a doting father, a role for which God had prepared him. Along with Ally’s six year old daughter, Alana, they became inseparable. In April 2014, Ryan met the love of his life, Alisha (Ally). He tried the Ambien for a few days, but then stopped taking it because, as Ryan put it, the medicine made him unable to wake up from his night terrors. ![]() Finally, Ryan did see a physician about his fear of going to sleep. No amount of discussion would convince him otherwise. Ryan constantly refused, feeling that if he sought counseling, it would be viewed negatively on the career he was pursuing. Numerous family members and close friends spent countless hours talking with Ryan, trying to convince him to seek counseling. Ryan began living on Red Bull at night, just to stay awake to ward off the nightmares. Nightmares increased in severity and frequency and he would thrash about, swinging his arms and kicking his legs violently. Unfortunately, when Ryan returned home from the Marines, he also brought home some additional baggage, in the form of PTSD. He began working at South Eastern Freight Lines, where he quickly became a night shift supervisor. When Ryan returned home, and began college, he joined several charities, to include The Proof Project and Habitat for Humanity. Numerous neighbors always sought after Ryan to baby sit because of the trust they had and the love their children had for him. He would gather his nieces and nephews on the spur of the moment and take them to the park and then for ice cream. He would mow an elderly neighbor’s lawn then sit and talk with her for hours. His heart was so big his love for the elderly and children was the hallmark of his life. He even volunteered while home on leave from the Marines. While still in high school, he volunteered as a junior firefighter at two local fire departments, then as a volunteer firefighter once he turned 18. Throughout his life, Ryan always was the type of person that always wanted to help others. ![]() Get UNLIMITED ACCESS to every printable resource on MakingMusicFun.It All Adds Up | Rhythm Worksheet V (Quarter, Eighth and Sixteenth Notes) It All Adds Up | Rhythm Worksheet IV (Dotted Quarter, Quarter, and Eighth Notes) It All Adds Up | Rhythm Worksheet II (Half, Quarter, and Eighth Notes) It All Adds Up | Rhythm Worksheet I (Whole, Half and Quarter Note) When the first worksheet is mastered, ask students to try the next one. Here’s a simple example that you can try yourself. Regardless of where the images come from, however, ImageDataGenerator is happy to apply transforms as it serves them up. ![]() The latter is especially useful when training CNNs with millions of images because it loads images into memory in batches rather than all at once. ImageDataGenerator generates batches of training images on the fly, either from images you’ve loaded (for example, with Keras’s load_img function) or from a specified location in the file system. One way to leverage image augmentation when training a model is to use Keras’s ImageDataGenerator class. Image Augmentation with ImageDataGenerator Let’s look at a couple of ways to put image augmentation to work, and then apply it to the Arctic-wildlife model presented in the previous post. Keras has built-in support for data augmentation with images. You can see why presenting the same image to a model in different ways might make the model more adept at recognizing hot dogs, regardless of how the hot dog is framed. The figure below shows the effect of applying random transforms to a hot-dog image. ![]() This can increase a model’s ability to generalize with little to no impact on training time. Images are transformed differently in each epoch, so if you train for 10 epochs, the network sees 10 different variations of each training image. Keras makes it easy to randomly transform training images provided to a network. It doesn’t always increase accuracy, but it frequently does. Rather than scare up more training images, you can rotate, translate, and scale the images you have. But if the training images don’t include photos with the bear’s head aligned differently or tilted at different angles, the model might have difficulty classifying the photo. A model might be able to recognize a polar bear if the bear’s head is perfectly aligned in center of the photo. With just 100 or samples of each class, there isn’t a lot of diversity among images. This feature, however, can also be a bug. One of the benefits of transfer learning is that it can do a lot with relatively few images. My previous post demonstrated how to use transfer learning to build a model that with just 300 training images can classify photos of three different types of Arctic wildlife with 95% accuracy. ![]() Works with: MySQL (not PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) The difference is that the table to be updated is not mentioned in the FROM clause. Works with: SQL Server (not MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL) Our examples in this guide will show you how to update the person.account_number field based on the related account.account_number field. We can see that the account_number field in the person table is NULL. Here’s what the sample data looks like when we select from it. INSERT INTO account (account_id, account_number, person_id) VALUES INSERT INTO person (person_id, first_name) VALUES INSERT INTO account (account_id, account_number, person_id) INSERT INTO person (person_id, first_name) The sample code is similar for each database, but the data types are different.ĭownload the SQL file with this sample data and all of the Update methods on my GitHub repository here. Here are our SQL statements to create the tables. account: stores account details that are created for people.person: stores information about people that are in the system. We’ll prepare some sample data to use in our examples. Some methods may be much faster than others, as they depend on your tables and the quantity of data. The methods to do this are different between Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.Īlso, you may want to test the performance of each of these “SQL update from select” methods. Or you may have loaded data from an external source into one table, and want to get some of this data into your “main tables”. We may have a column in one table but the values for that are derived or calculated from data in another table. Why would we want to include a second table? The problem with the simple UPDATE statement is that it can only take a single table. I’ve written about this in my guide to the SQL Update statement. You can also specify a condition in the WHERE clause so that only matching rows are updated. You can specify one table and one or more pairs of columns and values. The syntax of an update statement is this: UPDATE table To update data in a table, we can run an UPDATE statement. I say this is a 12-hour story, but like any adventure game, you’ll only progress as fast as you can solve puzzles, and that will vary depending on how good you are at sussing out wacky adventure game logic. But even the archetypal NPCs are well-written, well-acted, and generally interesting. Glottis, your netherworld demon sidekick whose sole reason to exist is to drive vehicles, is easily my favorite character – particularly as his role evolves into piano player, lounge singer, and shipman. It’s split into four years, with each one – particularly the film noir-heavy Year 2 – chock full of locations, characters, and items. The four-year tale of Manny as he tries to work off spiritual debts by selling expedited afterlife travel to paradise (read: heaven) so he can eventually get there himself is a gripping one, packed with film noir influences, a stellar jazzy soundtrack, and light touches of comedy too. It’s a lot to keep track of, and Grim Fandango won’t help you out in any way. Over this beautiful and dramatic 12-hour adventure, you’ll have to talk to a lot of memorable characters, collect a lot of items, and use them in creative and often bizarre ways, so you’ll need either an excellent memory or a notepad and pen to keep track of your current goals (especially if you take a day or two off in the middle of your playthrough). That’s hardly a bad thing, but it can be a bit jarring if you’re coming to this classic for the first time. Play As I progressed, Grim reminded me that adventure games of yore expected a lot more from players than most games do today. If you’re familiar with Telltale’s modern adventures, you’ll have a basic idea, but Grim is a much deeper, more complex quest than the Walking Deads and Wolves Among Us you’re used to nowadays. ![]() And while you can check the button layout in the Options screen – Fandango feels completely natural on DualShock 4, by the way, and there’s a new feels-like-it-was-always-there point-and-click interface option on PC – you’re given no other context for what you’re actually supposed to do. As a $15 download, Grim Remastered obviously doesn’t include a booklet. You’re simply thrown headfirst into the adventure, and any “How do I do that?” questions that would’ve been answered by the thick instruction manual you were expected to read before you played (heck, it was part of the fun!) are left a mystery here. However, one missed opportunity for improvement is that, like many games of the ‘90s, there is no tutorial available. Adventure games tend to age better than other genres because their gameplay is so story-focused, and so it’s no surprise that Grim Fandango remains a fine experience in 2015. |
